ABOUT

Hello, I’m Ankit!

I’m a glacio-hydrologist with a decade of research experience spanning four countries—Norway, India, Belgium, and Sweden. My work takes me to some of the world’s most remote and rapidly changing environments, from the vast ice sheets of the Arctic to the towering glaciers of the Himalaya.

My Research Journey

Over the past ten years, I’ve had the privilege of participating in numerous field expeditions that have taken me from sea-level fjords to high-altitude glacial lakes. These experiences have not only shaped my scientific understanding but have also given me a profound appreciation for Earth’s fragile water systems.

My research focuses on understanding how glaciers interact with water—how they store it, release it, and ultimately influence the communities and ecosystems downstream. Using numerical models and field observations, I work to predict how these critical water towers will respond to our changing climate.

Beyond the Ice

When I’m not tracking meltwater or developing hydrological models, you’ll find me embracing life through:

  • Sports — I am in general good at Racket sports. Tennis is my go to sports now which keeps me energized. I am playing tournaments since last Autumn. I try to play Table tennis, badminton occasionally. I play Rapid Chess almost everyday after my dinner. I feel it makes my brain sharper – which is most-likely not true, but I like to believe it.
  • Travel — Exploring new cultures and environments fuels my curiosity both professionally and personally
  • Philosophy — In recent years, I’ve developed a passion for philosophical texts that have transformed my perspective on our place in the natural world. This transformation through philosophy has been particularly significant. What began as casual reading has evolved into a framework that informs both my scientific approach and my personal outlook.

Why This Website

This space serves as my digital notebook—a place to share insights from my research, expeditions, travels, and readings. It’s where technical concepts meet philosophical reflections, where data visualization meets storytelling.

I believe that knowledge gains value when shared, and questions become more interesting when explored collectively. So whether you’re here out of scientific interest, philosophical curiosity, or simply stumbled upon this corner of the internet by chance—welcome!

Feel free to explore, and don’t hesitate to reach out if something resonates with you.

The journey continues…
